  1. Hi, I have this problem with acer aspire 4530 with windows xp.

For Step 7 of method 1, I have no "Advanced" button there. And for Step 2 of method 2, I have no "Advanced Controls" check box either.

My built in speaker works, but sometimes have funny results during internal-to-external headphone switches.

The bulit-in mic and external mic never worked. I installed the reaktek driver as indicated here http://komku.blogspot.com/2008/08/acer-aspire-4530-aspire-4530g-windows.html

  6. Hi Jim, I also encountered exactly the same problem with my Acer Aspire 4530 that I just purchased. I have a Win XP sp2. So when I brought the unit to the acer service center, they installed a vista but it never worked. I suspected that its a hardware so I have it changed with the dealer for another unit but it still shows the same problem. Have you found a solution?

  14. Hi,

I had problem with Acer M5201 system on XP with volume of mic on skype being too low and was using a USB phone. I followed the advice below and its now ROCKING!! Man you are awesome. Many thanks. You would not believe how often I have cursed Acer for giving me a duff system and I cursed my skype friends for continually saying I had a faint voice. MANY MANY THANKS. As an aside, on my Realtek menus looks slightly different but I did manage to find that checkbox to enhance the mic's volume for headphones. As for the USB-phone, the advanced tab and settings came up as shown.
