you need to change boot order, boot usb flash drive first, if this still doesn't work, try to use another usb flashdrive
thx!! it's very helpful. :)
ReplyDeleteHi..Can the flash drive/ external HDD be made bootable without formatting...thing is I've got an external HDD (I only have a 2 Gb flash drive) and formatting the HDD wouldn't be the best solution for me...very useful tutorial though...I've already installed XP using your guide and it worked flawless...but I really want the Win 7 since I can't manage to find the appropriate drivers for all my laptop components for XP.
ReplyDeleteA lot easier than the Komku way. I made a WinXP Pro SP2 drvie. I guess you can use this for any windows OS. Thank You!

ReplyDeletehi, thanx for sharing the steps of installing windows 7 from usb flash drive..you relly did a great job.usb-boot-drive
ReplyDeletei tried it but not able to make it bootable device
ReplyDeletethere is not need for a program all you have to do is:
ReplyDeleteformat the drive using Diskpart
Pearl > Run > Diskpart
list disk
select the disk for your usb drive
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=ntfs quick
assign
exit.
once you exit the command prompt, copy the content of the Windows 7 DVD to the usb drive..
plug it in > restart your system > select boot menu (varies with OEM Manufacturer) > select USB Driver or external drive and you will be loaded into WinPE where you can install windows 7 from.
hey you are the man.
ReplyDeleteIf you ever get a blank screen at GUI mode, it means that you already have an operating system residing at the first partition because this is the default booting option : multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
ReplyDeleteAll you have to do is to select which partition you want to instal XP to. In most cases you want to install it on the second partition, so you choose: Debug boot rDisk 1 partition 2.
Or use your head and decide which disk (rDisk) and which partition you want to install it.
Don't even think to clear your previous window because you think or as someone has stated that his research has told him always to install XP first, that's rubbish.
Is the step to install windows 8 same as windows 7?
ReplyDeletegracias ..... =)
ReplyDeleteI am using hp pen drive and win to flash stops at formatting the pen drive.I waited for 1 hour but could not make it.please tell me some solution
ReplyDeleteI'm about to use this to my gf's laptop, hope it will work...thanks!!
ReplyDeleteTrying this on a dell laptop using the dell windows install DVD. Important thing to note, a 4gb stick may not have enough space on it.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed it installs ok.
OS installed ok, just inserting drivers now. Great work on Win7 32bit. Thanks.
ReplyDeletehi after 1 st restart does we still need to let the usb plugged in,because after restart completing installation comes, will it be able to complete installation if no usb attached.
ReplyDeleteI did all those steps, even my bios have option of usb-zip as well as usb-hdd i made them as my first boot device. Still my pen drive is not been detected... Can any one help.
ReplyDeleteI prefer use professional OS backup software. I think it is much more safe and easy.
