Install Windows XP on Aspire 4740G - BlueScreen?

"A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer bla bla bla...."

If you found blue screen when you're trying to install Windows XP on your Acer Aspire 4740 or Aspire 4740G what should you do?

You should change SATA mode from AHCI to IDE mode....
How to do this? restart your laptop, then press F2 during post to go to BIOS, you can change sata mode configuration in the BIOS.

If you want to use SATA AHCI mode on Windows XP, download this sata ahci driver (Download) then follow this nLite tutorial to make Windows XP installation CD able to detect Hard Disk in AHCI configuration and prevent bluescreen during XP installation.

  6. Salam tuan.. mintak tolong sgt2 ni..saya mengunakan aspire 4530, AMD turion(tm) x2 dual-core, 250gbHDD, nvidia geforce 9100m g turbo cache. Saya nak format semula computer ni mengunakan xp sp3 kerana windows yg ada sekarang dah rosak "Operating system not found". sya dah ikut semua yg di ajar di blog tuan ni. tapi bila setup guna cd xp sp3 yang saya dah buat spt yg diajar tetap juga HDD x dpt detect. "there is no disk in this drive."

    Saya cari lagi dan jumpa ini dari blog tuan..
    "If Windows XP don't detect Aspire 4530 Harddisk... you need to insert AHCI driver to Windows XP CD, for Aspire 4530 use this driver (Download DosAHCI_v10.3.0.23), to insert AHCI driver follow this tutorial"

    saya dah download dan saya dah masukan dalam cd sp3 mengunakan software nlite seperti tutor tuan ni. masuk ni dah 5 keping cd xp ni saya buat tapi tetap x boleh jugak "there is no disk in this drive." rasa nak pecah kepala pun ada ni. ni dah masuk 3 hari saya explore blog tuan. Jika dapat tuan bantu, saya amat2 menghargainya.. cari email tuan x jumpa.. klau tuan dapat membantu bolehlah hantar pada email saya rubber_tapperz@yahoo.com. atau boleh PM saya pada blogspot saya.. rubbertapperz.blogspot.com.

  8. I am acer aspire 4740G user. I did follow all the instruction above but either I changed the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE mode or download the nlite and combine the ahci file into the window installation CD, my laptop will also automatically shut down. Anyone knows what is that problem?

    please try to change sata mode to sata IDE mode.... (from BIOS)

    and please go to BIOS and check the HDD whether it is detected by BIOS or not... if it not detected then the HDD is dead... :(

    If i change the mode to IDE, it will automatically shut down before load the CD.
    If using the CD with ACHI driver, it will shut down during doing the partition.
    Is the any other solution to solve the BIOS problem?

  14. I am Acer aspire 4740g user.. Everytime i playing the Facebook's game like Farmville, Trasure Isle.. My notebook will shutdown automaticlly..

Hi, i cant boot my pc from usb .i have followed all procedure that was posted in WinToFlash Guide - Install Windows XP from USB Flash drive.I have changed my boot order making usb firt priorty, but nothing happend.On restart blinking a cursor upper corner of display.please help.   20. hye...saya memang harap sangat pertolongan..saya ada beli acer 4349...saya sudah guna windows xp..tapi, bila saya nak install drivers menggunakan CD yang dibekalkan, tidak boleh...bagaimana?dimana saya boleh dapatkan drivers secara download? sila contact saya segera.. mawis_fc@yahoo.com
