2. Display & Design

The Y17 has a 6.5-inch multi-touch LCD display and lacks in pixel density as it is only 268 ppi. On the contrary, the S1 has a gorgeous and huge 6.38 inch AMOLED display with a pixel density of 404 ppi. Both phones are bezel-less, come with a dewdrop notch and weigh above 170 grams but the Y17 is slightly heavier and thicker at 190 gms and 8.99mm respectively. Both phones feature plastic bodies and lack waterproofing. When it comes to screen resolution, the S1 takes the lead with 1080 x 2340 pixels while the Y17 is only average with its 720 x 1544 pixels screen resolution.

3. Gaming & Performance

Y17 and S1 both feature the latest operating system Android 9 Pie. While the S1 sports a powerful MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, the Y1 comes with the average MediaTekHelio P35 chipset. When it comes to gaming, the S1 features a powerful Mali-G52 GPU that is great for intensive gaming. Y17 has a PowerVR GE8320 GPU that is good for mediocre level gameplay. Both the phones have 4GB RAMs for their base models and are great for day to day tasks as well as multitasking and switching between apps.

4. Cameras

S1 has a triple camera setup on the rear that features 16 MP main camera, 8 MP  ultrawide and 2 MP depth sensor. Y17 also sports a tri camera setup on the rear but its main camera is a 13 MP shooter with an 8 MP ultrawide shooter and a 2 MP depth sensor. While the S1 has a 32 MP selfie cam, the Y17 features a 20MP front camera. S1 performs better in the rear camera department but lacks terribly in low light photography. Whether you decide to buy Vivo S1 or Vivo Y17 is a matter of choice as both the phones are almost the same in features as well as price. While the Y17 has an excellent battery mileage, the S1 performs better in all other departments making it a slightly better choice than Vivo Y17.
