The 12 famous steps of the 12-step program for alcohol addiction.

The 12-step program for alcohol addiction is the first series of steps that were developed by a group of individuals that were looking for a very special method of healing from alcohol addiction which did not require the person to be dependent on the healing through medically tested methods.

People at that time were not into medication as a whole, they were a little afraid of the methods that were medical. Some people even exaggerated but there is some truth in it that the addicts were categorized as mentally sick people who would need a helmet to electrify them through the helmet to heal their addiction. This method was and was not used, but there are rumors of it which spread to the creation of the 12-step program.

Even before then there were drug rehab centers for alcohol and drug addiction. But still, many people decided that a new method needed to be made and this method was the 12-step program for alcohol addiction. The program asked the patient to heal their addiction by believing in the power of the God and to give themselves full to God so that he may help them heal.

Both of the programs are perfect for healing, but sometimes, the 12-steps program is needed alongside the primary rehab treatment program in the form of inpatient treatment program and outpatient treatment program.

What are the 12 steps of the 12-steps program?

The 12 steps of the 12-step program are the following:

  • Admit your powerlessness to addiction.

The first step is to admit that you are completely powerless when it comes to the addiction and you have to admit that you are powerless in front of God and only God can help you through this addiction program.

  • You have to believe that God can restore your life.

You have to solemnly believe that the God that you believe in can heal you from within and restore your mind and body before they were corrupted.

  • Give yourself to God.

We have to make a strict decision that we have to let go of ourself and our ego and give our will to the Almighty. We have to give in to his demands and see the magic happen.

  • We have to look within.

This step asks the patient to look within deep for flaws and all the wrong doings and keep checking up on your deeds.

  • Admit the wrongdoings to everyone.

Admit all the wrongdoings to God, to yourself, to your fellow people. You do this to heal yourself by getting rid of the burden.

  • Be ready to remove all the defects that you may have in your character through God.

This step asks the patient to let God know about all the wrongdoings and all the defects that you might have in your character and heal yourself from it.

  • Ask God to remove your inadequacies.

Only God can help us remove our inadequacies without making us feel bad for it.

  • Make a full list of people you have to ask forgiveness from.

This is to remove the burden from your shoulders, make a list of all the people who you have hurt and who have hurt you and forgive them and yourself.

  • Make amends with people at the moment of mistake.

This asks the patient to be quick when they make mistakes. And to not wait for forgiveness.

  • Keep taking inventory of yourself from inside.

This asks the patient to keep looking inward for flaws and work on them.
